Privacy Policy – UPI Alert

Effective Date: October 2, 2026

This Privacy Policy applies to the UPI Alert App ("Application"), developed and operated by Alnico Tech Private Limited ("Company", "we", "our", or "us").

The Application is designed to provide users with sound alerts and notifications related to UPI payment messages and transaction notifications received on their device.

By downloading, accessing, or using the Application, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

Depending on the features you use and the permissions you provide, the Application may collect or process the following information.

Device Information

We may collect limited technical information, including:

Notification and Transaction-Related Information

To provide UPI payment sound alerts, the Application may require access to relevant notifications received on your device.

Depending on the functionality and permissions granted, the Application may process information contained in payment-related notifications, such as:

This information is processed only as necessary to provide the Application's sound alert and related functionality.

Bank SMS Information (Optional Passbook Feature)

The Application includes an optional "Passbook" feature that builds a record of your bank transactions grouped by bank account. Bank SMS is the only source on the device that identifies which bank account a transaction moved through, so this feature requires SMS read access.

This feature is entirely optional. The Application's payment sound alerts — its core function — work fully without it, and you may decline SMS access and continue using the Application.

The first read happens only after you open the Passbook tab, tap "Scan Transactions", accept an in-app disclosure, and then grant the Android permission prompt. Nothing is read before all four.

Once you have granted the permission, the Passbook refreshes itself when you open or return to that tab, so the ledger is not silently showing yesterday's picture — at most once every 15 seconds, and never while you are on another screen or while the app is in the background. There is no live interception of messages as they arrive.

From bank messages, the Application extracts:

2. Information We Do Not Collect

The Application is not intended to collect or store sensitive banking credentials such as:

Users should never share such sensitive information with the Application or our support team.

3. How We Use Your Information

We may use the information collected or processed through the Application to:

4. Notification and SMS Access

The Application may request notification access in order to identify relevant UPI payment notifications and trigger appropriate sound alerts.

Notification access is used only for the functionality provided by the Application and in accordance with the permissions granted by the user.

You may revoke notification permissions through your device settings. However, disabling the required permissions may affect the functionality of the Application.

SMS access

SMS read access is used solely for the optional Passbook feature described in Section 1. Before the system permission prompt appears, the Application shows you an in-app explanation of what will be read and why, and the prompt itself only appears after you tap "Scan Transactions". Once granted, reads occur when you open or return to the Passbook tab, and never in the background.

You may deny or later revoke this permission from your device settings at any time. Doing so disables only the Passbook view; every other feature, including payment sound alerts, continues to work normally.

5. Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information.

Information may be shared only in the following circumstances:

Any service providers handling information on our behalf are expected to use appropriate safeguards.

6. Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information processed through the Application from unauthorized access, misuse, alteration, loss, or disclosure.

When information is no longer required, we take reasonable steps to delete or anonymize it.

8. Your Choices and Permissions

You can manage or revoke certain permissions, including notification access and SMS access, through your device settings. Revoking SMS access disables only the optional Passbook feature.

Please note that disabling certain permissions may prevent some features of the Application from functioning properly.
